FAQs
What’s the weather like in Miami in December?
Miami in December is very mild but fluctuates between day and night. Expect it to be between 16°C - 25°C. We would recommend packing lots of easy beach wear, a few fun night time outfits but also a lightweight jacket or throw over.
When is best to arrive/leave?
To attend all of our wedding events, we would recommend to arrive on Thursday (or Friday morning if you’re tight for time) and to leave on Monday. You can fly into either Miami or Fort Lauderdale. We realise it’s a big trip to make and some of you might have places to be and people to see however if of course if you’re able to stay a little longer, we’d love to see as many of you outside of the wedding events as possible. There is so much to do in Miami, check out our ‘Club Guide’ to plan your days if you’re staying longer than the main days.
Can I bring my kids?
We would love to see the whole family over the course of the wedding weekend however the Wedding Day itself (Saturday the 16th) we won’t be able to accomodate children. We are looking to organise a kids club either in a separate area/room of the venue itself or at our nearby home. Please let us know if you plan on bringing your children, how old they will be at the time or the wedding and any special requirements they might have.
Is there a photo/phone policy?
STRICTLY NO PHONES DURING THE CEREMONY OR SPEECHES (and limited use across the event please). We would love our guests to be as present as possible during the most pivotal moments of the day. We know you want photos of your own but please try and limit phone usage over the course of the wedding day. We have amazing photographers and videographers on-board to make sure we don’t miss a thing! We promise to share absolutely everything as soon as we can.
What to each of the dress codes really mean?
The Day Before: White Nights dress code is simple elevated beach wear. Matilda will be in heels and a dress while Jarv will be in a relaxed suit with loafers. We will be on the beach with games so feel free to come in sandals, sneakers or anything in-between.
The Day Of: Miami Black Tie is formal black tie with a Miami edge. Something fun, something a little bit sexy, something dramatic, something with feathers, some old-school glam, sequins and colour encouraged.
The Day After: While we know there will be plenty of hangovers to nurse, we would love to carry on the party and what better way than a Daytime Disco. Think if Studio54 was an everyday lunchtime, beachside occurrence. Doesn’t have to be anything too fussy or too on the nose, even a nod to the disco codes will do.
Where should I stay?
Vagabond: For the younger crowd we’ve booked the entire converted motel. It’s in a great ‘up and comin’g area called MiMo (aka Miami Modern). We’ve been given a special rate so make sure you book with the code MIAMILOVECLUB.
The Palms: For the real grown-ups we’ve secured a room block at the iconic Palms Hotel. Right on Miami Beach there’s direct beach access and all the amenities you could need or want from a Floridian resort. In mid-beach its walking distance from some of our favourite restaurants and attractions. Book with MIAMILOVECLUB for the correct rates.
Other: Bal Harbour Beach Haus $$, Esme South Beach $-$$$, The Edition $$$$, The Standard $$$$, Freehand $-$$ , Life House (South of 5th or Little Havana) $$, Soho Beach House $$$, Good Time Hotel $$$, Arlo Hotel $$, Trouvail $$, Kimpton Hotel Palomar $$, Casa Faena $$-$$$, Circa39 $$
Should I rent a car? How are we getting to and from events?
If you’re keen to explore and are going to be in the city a few days before and/or after the wedding, we’d recommend getting a car which you can rent at the airport or via several pick up points around Miami. While valets can be expensive, parking is relatively easy for the most part. Ubers are a great alternative especially if you plan on indulging in a few beverages along your explorations.
For the main wedding events on the Friday and Saturday we are organising buses to leave from both the Vagabond and The Palms. There will be plenty of seating for those staying at those locations however if you are staying nearby either of these points and would like to be included in the headcount, please reach out to us!
Is Miami safe?
Miami is like any major city in the US or indeed the world. Very safe for the most part and most times of day however there are pockets which we’d discourage you from visiting. Miami is not a walking city so use Uber/Lyft to and from your destination. We’d avoid the areas of Little Haiti, Model City and Overtown and say avoid walking alone at night anywhere outside of the popular tourist or high-foot traffic areas. Saying all of this, we feel very comfortable most places in the city especially those included in our guide.
How can I let you know about a dietary requirement?
If it slipped your mind to include your dietary requirements on your RSVP then just drop us a line with anything we need to know.
What can we get you as a wedding gift? Is there a registry?
The fact so many are going to be travelling to Miami is a big deal to us so we’d like to create as little fuss outside of that journey. If you maybe can’t make it to our wedding weekend and insist on something practical, we’ve have set up an HSBC multi-currency account for our honeymoon fund which we plan to take next summer in Italy. Whether you’d like to treat us to a round of Aperol’s, a cooking class in Tuscany, a night in a hotel or anything in-between, we’d love to honour that gesture so please leave us a note in the transaction message with any ideas on how you’d like us to use your contribution!
